Joint development of publicly-owned premises of the old Pingtung Tobacco Factory by National Property Administration and Pingtung County Government
The National Property Administration indicated that the old Pingtung Tobacco Factory has a total land area of about 4.2 hectares, with the zoning of the land being divided into a Type B industrial area, a residential area, a roads, and land for use by administrative authorities, and the number of buildings above ground totals 29. The development in this case covers the space on the 2nd floor of Warehouse No.14 and Warehouse No.19, with a building area of about 1,546 ping and a land area of about 1,130 ping. The Pingtung County Government will invite investments in the development of cultural and creative industries based on lease. It is estimated that the development will attract nearly NT$10 million in private investments, contribute NT$38 million to GDP, and create 40 employment opportunities. During the period of development and operation, it is estimated that nearly NT$8.4 million in rent and NT$3.71 million in tax revenue will be collected to generate income for the treasuries. Now the extension of the invitation for the operation of business for the 1st floor of Warehouse No.14 has been completed and the space is being run by private vendors as a performance space for an arts group. With successful experience in extending an invitation for investment and with the expansion in the number of demonstration sites, it is expected that the chance of success in extending such invitations will increase.
